This Green Birdie is designed by Mats Jonasson for the glasshouse, Målerås. Målerås are a pioneering glass house from Sweden and they have created this crystal sculpture by casting it from a mould. The design is then hand-painted onto the reverse and finally each piece is meticulously engraved and sandblasted.

Mats Jonasson´s talent as a designer attracted attention early on in his career. He started work as an apprentice engraver at the glass works in 1959. Over the next few decades he worked with many of the most respected contemporary glass artists in Sweden. During this period he began to develop his own style which is now instantly recognisable.
