Richard Shimell started printmaking later in life. After a career in journalism in 2010, he joined as a complete beginner the Dartington Print Workshop. He developed his knowledge and skills and eventually begun making and selling prints from his home studio.
Richard lives in a wooded landscape on the edge of Dartmoor and the surrounding trees are inspiration for his work. He is drawn to the simplicity of silhouettes and the complexity of branches. These details can all be seen in Richards wonderful artworks.
